Thank you for your interest in working at Hertfordshire County Council.
This is a key role in a strongly performing Council. As part of the senior management team you will support the leadership of the council to deliver an ambitious programme of change and transformation. It is now more important than ever for the Council to maximise efficiency and productivity and to prioritise resources to secure the best outcomes for Hertfordshire and its people.
New efficiency savings of £11.7 million have already been identified and while departments will continue to review and develop potential savings options, and debate them with Members, it is clear that the existing approach will not be enough to meet the funding gap by 2017/18. So alongside our traditional approach, we need to expand work across departments, and with partners, given that we all face similar pressures.
The most recent Hertfordshire Forward conference - which brings partners together to consider current issues for the county - was a timely opportunity to discuss the role strategic partnerships can play in tackling our challenges. There were some interesting presentations and debates around how we can work collectively to re-design public services, drive economic growth and tackle the key issues facing Hertfordshire. While there's a real will to work together we all recognised that we need to work on the practicalities of making this happen in the real world.
If you would like to help us meet these challenges, and have the skills and ambition to create new ways to work efficiently with partners for the benefit of all our communities, we would be delighted to receive your application.
